Mini-PAC ordering question
« on: March 30, 2014, 12:32:18 am »
This is my first build.  I was about to buy a Mini-PAC, but then noticed that there are wiring options.  What are the differences listed here?  I plan on wiring this to Sanwa JLFs, if that matters.

6.3mm (1/4in) connectors
4.8mm connectors
6.3mm (1/4in) connectors. Inc PS/2 Adaptor (+$3.00)
4.8mm connectors. Inc PS/2 Adaptor (+$3.00)
4.8-2.8 mm connectors (+$9.00)

I guess this kind of answers it: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=131796.0
So I should order the last selection (4.8-2.8 ) I'm guessing?  How does this work if I have some Japanese buttons mixed with some American ones?  I was thinking I might get different kinds for the p1/p2/and coin buttons

The MiniPAC comes with a USB cable. If you plan to connect it to a USB port on your PC, you don't need the PS/2 adaptor.

The Ultimarc buttons/joysticks require 4.8mm connectors, except the Goldleaf buttons (the ones without an external switch) which require 2.8mm connectors. So you have to check your switches before ordering.

If i am not mistaken the Sanwa JLF requires a special 5-pin connector to connect it to MiniPAC (up, down, left, right, Ground)

You can make your own harness to your own specifications. All you need is Crimp Connectors (4.8mm or 2.8mm) and a few thin multicolor cables.

So I'm better off wiring it myself for JLFs rather than using their pre-made harness?

You can easily add 5 male QDs to a JLF harness.

That will allow you to connect the JLF harness to the minipac harness.

JLF ==> JLF Harness ==> male QDs ==> Mini-Pac harness ==> Mini-Pac.   ;D
