Anyone familiar with UPS COD for Brokerage?
« on: March 21, 2014, 08:18:07 pm »
Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with UPS COD delivery.
I ordered a cabinet from Recroom masters. Looking forward to getting it.

I'm going to have to pay the brokerage fee via COD (it's going from US to Canada)
I believe that as I've already paid them for the cabinet and for shipping the brokerage COD payment would go through to UPS in this case.

Am I right? Or should I be making the payment out to Recroom Masters?

I have contacted UPS (they're not very helpful they just link to some page about their COD options).

Does anyone have any experience with the magical world of UPS COD?  I'm sure it's a pretty straight forward process. All the information on it seems a but convoluted/poorly written.
I'm expecting that the delivery will amount to me being handed the item(s) and then giving a check to the delivery guy.  Just not sure who to make that check out to.
I miss Retroblast :(

UPS always claims a brokerage fee on shipments from the US to Canada.  Some of the other delivery companies are also doing the same.   Info up front is lacking.   Be advised on small value shipments they claim many times what the shipment is worth.  On larger shipments your guess is as good as mine what the charge will end up being.

Beware The Brokerage Fee

Shipping something from the U.S. to Canada for repair/exchange?  Please use USPS to avoid (additional?/excessive?) shipping charges.  PM me if you have any questions.

UPS has always been slower and more expensive than USPS in my experience.

They'll set up corporate accounts for any jackass with a pile of parts in his garage for sale, so you see them used far more often than you should.   :P

Just bought something from ThinkGeek for gimmick birthday present, delivered from us to uk. Paid for express shipping, which was £18 for a £12 item, but was ok with that - my bad for not being organised. Got it posted to work and the receptionist was charged £18 COD. Most pricey gimmick present ever  :badmood:

Thanks guys.  Yeah I'd rather have used another shipper as I also dislike UPS. :(
