Hi,
I plan to build an arcade cabinet with a crt display and I want an advice about what design to choose to minimize glare. The machine will stay in a large office with squared florescent lights above, from place to place, and possible windows at a far distance. Used during the day, most of the light coming from above though.
I was thinking about an R-Type design, because it has large lateral panels that may block lateral light. And because I like the game.
I'm not sure what angle is the display in the R-Type cabinet and how this angle affects the glare. I imagine the best thing would be a flat horizontal position, but I would prefer a 30 or 45 degree.
Another thing is about the glass, because R-Type has the glass vertical and i fear this would reflect the windows in the back and probably the whole environment. So, I would place the glass at an angle too. Not sure at what distance from the ctr display, to avoid refections from the game image. Or to avoid seeing the ceiling lights. The last option would be not to use a glass at all, just a normal bezel, with the crt exposed.
Can anyone give some advice on this (angle for display, angle for glass and distance between them)?
Thanks!
Alex
