Trying to find a Power supply for aimtrack...
« on: February 22, 2014, 09:08:47 pm »
Hi there,

I was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction, I'm having a bit of trouble finding. A power supply for the aimtrack recoil system. It needs 20-34 volts with a peak of 5 amps. I'm not great when it comes to this stuff but 5 amps sounds like a lot...

Anyway, Just wondering what other people are using for their setups.

Thanks
Pete

something like this should work fine. It is definitely cheap, so build quality might not be the best, but I don't think you will pushing it too hard with the aimtracks. I just bought one to use with a shaker motor, but I haven't hooked it up yet.

5 amps may sound like a lot, but think about what you are doing.  It's firing an electromagnet with enough oomph to jerk your hand, and doing it as quickly as you can pull the trigger.  That's a lot of juice.

Yeah it would have to supply a decent punch!
I'll just have to make sure it's safe.

Thanks for the pointers!

I bought one of these for my token dispenser build.

Works great, and I actually like the PCB layout. Designed to be serviced, all highpower resistors up off the board, etc. Decent PSU.
