Minipac Issue
« on: February 20, 2014, 02:12:38 pm »
Got everything wired up for my first cabinet build.  LED on minipac indicates everything is working (2 blinks then solid light).  But PC isn't recognizing it.  Looked in Device Manager and nothing is showing up. Tried a different usb cable, same results.

Anything else I should be trying? Do I need to enable anything within MAME for it be recognized?

Shot out a message to Andy @ Ultimarc as well.

Sansa joysticks - 8 buttons  - two player setup
Windows 7 64 bit

 ??? ??? ??? ???

Did you move the jumper on the minipac to the USB setting?

USB~PS/2 Jumper Block
—keep this jumper in the default pos
ition when connecting the Mini-PAC to
the PC’s PS/2 keyboard port. Move the jumper to
the USB position when connecting using a PS/2-to-
USB cable for plugging into one of the PC’s USB port

I don't think there is a jumper block on the new ones? This is what I received:

They don't appear to be moveable anyway. . .

Do you see any small yellow exclamation marks next to HID devices in your device manager?  I had to update the driver.

Nope, nothing. Its like I didn't plug in anything even though the LED lights up and its drawing power.

Exchanged messages with Andy @ Ultimarc and he thinks there's a flaw with the board. He's sending me a new one.

Got one of  the newer models in my projects box and wired it in with the USB cable.   LED lights and Windows 7 detects it as soon as it is plugged in.   No drivers needed.  Shows up under devices and printers as an Ultimarc Minipac.

Did you try connecting it without your wiring headers plugged in.   Would prove it is the minipac and not any external problems.

Just gave this a shot without the headers on the original PC and nothing. Also tried on my work laptop (don't tell) and same result. Nothing.

Looks like Andy was right about sending a new card.

Thanks for the additional thought BobA.
