Year & Manufacturer in Other Emulators
« on: February 16, 2014, 07:01:45 am »
My Mala layout shows Manufacturer and Year which (I think) it gets from mame.xml. Is there away for "Other Emulators" using the same layout? I can create the xml for it, but don't know how it should be named, or where it should be located, or indeed even if it is possible to show this information for "other Emulators".

I've googled but not come across anything discussing this.

There is no way to reference another content file (yet) but you can look at the pinned topics to get an idea how to make one. For example, I used slightly modified Hyperlist xml content and merged it using romlister. It generates a working gamelist with genre/manufacturer/year. Drawback is to use only the naming convention and content Hyperspin files offers unless you change them. Right now I am trying to come up with a scheme that combines controls.ini/nplayers.ini/catver.ini for consoles but that data (especially the controls) is not documented outside of each manual of the games.
