AVRES Utility problem.. help
« on: December 01, 2003, 03:38:44 pm »
I have downloaded the AVRES Utility file (zipped) from Ultimarc, but when I try to open the file it says that the file is invalid or corrupt. Can anyone confirm that the site has a corrupt file. And can someone send me a "good" AVRES Utility zip file please!!!

I don't know about the AVRES utility, but there is a much superior AVGA "tweaker" from the Steve Lilley-Hopkins (author of MAMEWAH) called the ArcadeVGA M.A.M.E. Resolution Tool:

http://mamewah.mameworld.net/downloads.html

I had a lot of problems with AVRES not setting up the "optimal" display, especially for vertical games. The program by Steve is much better (and allows a lot more fine-tuning, as well!)

I just sent you the avres utility as well, its always nice to have options.  And welcomne to the board, its always nice to have a newbie to kick around.   ;D  You were told about the initiation ritual right?  NO?  You have to ask howard casto where to find roms...he'll be happy to help ;)
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

No problems here. Be sure to copy the files contained in mscomct2.zip and mscomct2.zip, as well as Scrrun.dll to your windows\system folder. Don't forget to enable vertical under rotation options so as to have your vertical games rotated. Configure the rest and it should be ok.
