Rebuild a Bally Midway Tri-Sports Arcade into a 60 in 1 Multicade Questions

I just picked up a 1989 Bally Midway Tri-Sports Arcade Game in working condition that I want to rebuild as a 60 in 1 Multicade. I am a newbie and have a few questions:

1. Can someone suggest a good DIY thread that will help me change out the game board and controls? The cabinet is in good enough shape and the 19" Monitor is in good shape so I don't need to rebuild/replace those.

2. I would like to rebadge it in original Pac-Man (yellow). Would the replacement side decals work with this cabinet?

One reason that people aren't posting suppliers for X-in-1 boards is that they run unlicensed ROMs using an outdated/illegal distribution of MAME.

Posting links to x-in-1 boards violates Rule 5.   

Another thing to consider is that the board and wiring harness in your cab are not JAMMA, which limits the number of plug-and-play options you have available.

If you're looking to put a JAMMA x-in-1 board in your current cab, there are two basic approaches:

1.) Carefully remove the old board/wiring harness (don't cut the harness if you can avoid doing so) and make a replacement control panel.

2.) Space permitting, leave the current board/harness as is, unplug the control panel and make a replacement for it.  Mount the JAMMA board and harness where you can.

Either way, try to make any changes easy to undo in case you decide to reverse the conversion later.

Thanks for the info...I thought post 1985ish arcade games had JAMMA boards & wiring, so thanks for the clarification.

I have spent literally hours searching for a very simple instruction set (on this forum, Youtube, and old fashion Google search) for what I want to do and have found nothing close-although 1001 ways to build a cabinet from scratch. I wasn't asking for someone to write up a custom DIY, just to point me in the right direction.

Wow, I know a literally know another guy named Rob who rebuilt a working Tri-Sports into a 60 in 1, and last I checked he still hadn't been able to sell the thing.

Putting Pac-Man stickers on the side of that would be the equivalent of setting a couple hundred dollars on fire, except that it would look worse.

Any reason why you feel the need to rip up a working semi-rare dedicated game when there are so many incomplete conversion cabinets out there?

Actually, I was just assuming you had a dedicated one, since the few I have seen have been dedicated, they made them in kits too. Post a picture of what you have.

Sell the tri sports on klov then take the money and get a Jamma no name cab with big monitor.. Sell the Jamma pcb if it has one..

Then get a 60 in one, but remember that many people here say that the game emulation drives them nuts and some then go either arcade sd, pc Mame or groovy arcade or another variant..

Ok, not dedicated, that is a Time Pilot cabinet. Convert away.

Tri Sports is not Jamma although some of them I have seen have a jamma adapter board installed. The 60 in 1 isn't going to be a direct drop in though, you will still have to do some rewiring because of the trackball.

Tri-Sports is a pretty decent game. It is a pretty direct upgrade over any of the single sport trackball titles you could get back then.
