Got smoked gray tint, now there are streaks
« on: January 22, 2014, 09:35:03 pm »
So I just got a piece of glass with smoked tint.  Got home put on some windex to clean it before putting it in the cabinet and now there are huge streaks that wont seem to come off :\

Is this normal?

Some glass cleaners leave horrible streaks on smoked stuff.

I use Sprayway glass cleaner because of that. Got used to the stuff cleaning LCD's at work, and it's the only glass cleaner I'll touch now.

Were the streaks there, but not visible until you cleaned it?  Glass has a funny way of retaining marks when it gets wet and the water is allowed to dry on it.  If it had "water marks" on it and then was tempered, it's probably permanent.   If cleaner won't take it off, I'd take it back to where you got it from.
