Convert Multi coin mech to repeated pulse for mame/demul etc...
« on: January 20, 2014, 05:05:15 pm »
Hi folks.

Did a quick search but to no avail.

Have a Coin Controls C120 in my cab. This accepts 5 different coins, e.g. 10p, 20p, 50p etc.

Each type of coin triggers output pulse on different lines.

At the moment, just twisted all together and linked to minipac to activate coin input.

I was wondering whether there was any circuitry/hacks to send a number of pulses with delay inbetween given which line is pulsed? For eg. Would send 1 pulse if 10p line pulsed or 5 if 50p line pulsed.

As you can tell, whilst I'm ok with a soldrring iron and keyboard hacks, circuut design is a bit beyond me!

However, it feels in theory thst this could be reasonably simple to someone who knows what they're doing!

555 timer chips and some kinda "pulse maker" chip? Always wanted to get handy wiyh a breadboard!

Alternatively, is there one to buy anywhere. I'm guessing this isnt the firdt time its come up.

Cheers and btw.... what a satisfying moment that was getting my rennovated ciin door in my cab and putting in my first 10p to play 1942!

u are in the uk >pence<
there is a board made for cashflow 330 that had output line that would go to the board, and it would output the way u wanted it single line output 10p=1 50p=5
they are made in toronto ont,and cost about 45.00-55.00 dollars, this has been the olny 1 i have found to date.
i will need to search for there company name
but as they do coinco, cashflow, mars and are a dealer u might find them in there international list

Thanks ed. However, not really wanting to fork out for a new coin mech.. was really looking for a way to connect my present one to something to connect to my minipac. A 'pulse generator' if you will.

Frustrating as this must have been done before. Dammit I'm gonna have to learn amateur electronics now!

i guess u misunderstood me
u do not replace your coin mech
this board is a interface between your mech and the single line coin in
they work like a charm

Ah brill ed. Bit more research led to understanding of credit boards. Now, I see the klingon 3.2 is compatible with my C120 mech, but struggling to locate one at price point needed in uk. There are a few 1.1s around, but cant tell whether compatible with C120. Cant find a 1.1 manual online anywhere.

Anyone know?
