Donkey Kong bezel/marquee attachment?
« on: January 14, 2014, 01:10:11 am »
I'm confused about how the bezel and marquee attach on a Donkey Kong cabinet. I don't know of one locally I can reference. Where the bottom of the marquee and the top of the bezel attach, it looks like some kind of bracket is used, but how does this attach? Can someone explain this to me, or some pictures would be great!

Here is the complete set @ Chomping Quarters.  Another good online store besides ebay is mikesarcade.com   Their online Nintendo store is found here.   And the bezel retainer, which I haven't ordered yet, can be found here.  I'll snap you a couple of pics when I get home if someone else hasn't done it by the time I get home.

JDBailey, how has your Nintendo cab been coming? I haven't seen anything recently.

Pixel - I got the reproduction stuff from Mikes and it seems to be very good quality. I don't think they don't have bottom bezel piece so for my build I'm making something on my own. I didn't know you could get the full set from Chomping, but it looks like they're out of stock anyway.

Good call meyer.  They don't have the complete set in stock but they have the individual parts for sale.  It will cost you $3 more but that really isn't that bad.  They also have the lower bezel retainer for sale.

My cab has really been coming along.  I just haven't updated my post.  It was slow going with the weather being so crappy here in Michigan.  Luckily my dad stepped up and helped me get the cab into the basement where I can work on it in the warmth.  I've gotten the cab assembled I am starting on paint.  Instead of hijacking Pauls thread here I'll see if I can update mine tonight.

I'm in the same boat myself, Minnesota temps far too cold to paint in :( You're right, didn't mean to hijack Pixel's thread, I'll watch for yours!

Looks like Chopper beat me to it.   :'(   ;D Love his build Paul.  If you have time check it out.

On a side note Chopper I followed your paint codes that you offered on your build and gave them to my local Sherwin Williams store.  The color that came back was amazing.  Can't wait to get it on my cab.

Anyway.  On to the pics I took last night.

This first photo shows you where the lower bezel retainer sits.  This piece of wood is also where the CP slides into from the front.

The lower bezel retainer sits in it's home.   :)

At this point the bottom marquee bracket should already be installed with screws (still trying to locate some myself) on the bottom of the second from the top piece of MDF as Chopper has shown you in his pics.

Once the bottom marquee bracket is installed your marquee can now be slipped into the top of the marquee bracket and the top marquee bracket can be installed as shown the the following pics.

The following pictures show you how the plexi/glass (or in my case my bezel cardboard template) will sit in the bezel retainer and rest against the top and side pieces of wood that retain it from falling back against the monitor.

Hope everyone's pics help you out Paul.  Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks a lot, really appreciate the pics and explanation. Any chance you could measure the width and depth of that groove?
