i tore apart 2 old and broken HD's this week trying to get the baring for a spinner .. one drive had the bering pressed into the case and inpossable to remove , the second drive has some sort of cover on the bottom ( where the mouse wheel would go ) that i couldnt cut with a dremal ... so i started looking around the house for somthing else to use...

VCR head ... turns out this is an easly found part , simple to remove , spins MUCH better than the HD barings and has a built in flywheel ( one spin and this thing kept going for a good 45 seconds in my hand )  .... if i had a decent camera i would post some pictures but i dont  :-[

so has anyone else tried to use a vcr head?  i cant belive i'm the first to think of this , but this board is a mess to search so i havent had the chance to really look.

Been done, I think, but if I remember, it came up before the board switch to the new software (ages ago).
