Is $20.51 good for a Rough Ranger cabinet?
« on: November 25, 2003, 04:55:31 pm »
I was just wondering how I did on this cab.  I paid $20.51 for it on eBay.  Here's the link to the auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3253823305&category=13716&rd=1

I'll probably make it into a MAME cab, and maybe sell it.

Depends on where you're located.  If you have to ship it, you got robbed.  If you can go pick it up, you did okay.  I doubt you could build it for that price, after all.

Best of luck with it.   :)

Theres over a $100 worth of wood to build one. So if its solid its worth it. If its not it depends on how much work you have to do to it.

Many things that often come with a cab-
coin door, coin bucket
t-molding
marquee retainer
monitor glass
monitor glass retainer
controls

These among many other things add up in a hurry if you build one. Many people forget those things. Plus you can't get much more authentic than an actual cabinet and if its in decent condition its a lot less work.
My statements are my own opinions. They have the value that the reader gives them. My opinion of my opinion varies between foolish and brilliant and these opinions often change with new information.

I see it's a conversion cabinet with a Coinco coin door on it.

Are Coinco's good?

The guy lives pretty close to me, I'll just go pick it up.   It looks to be in better condition than the last gutted cabinet I got, and it's got a couple buttons and a joystick.  It also has the game with it.  I think I did pretty good.  Although I was hoping to get it for $9.99, and I thought I was going to.

I think so.  I definitely prefer them to the over/under doors.  Those things are just damn ugly.

Yeah, you did fine. Anyway, if you NEED a cabinet for your project than there is no real difference between $10, $20 or free, it will still only end up being a small part of the overall project cost, and is of course about $200 cheaper than building one.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

I Don't really NEED a cabinet, already have one that's nearly done.  I mostly just bought this to MAME and probably sell.  I could use some extra money.
