Turbo Twist2 - Sensitivity Settings
« on: December 10, 2013, 09:56:54 am »
I finally installed my CP with a Turbo Twist 2 - just a few questions though:

Do I need to change the sensitivity within Windows? or....is it really controlled via MAME? [Press TAB key, go to Analog Controls, and change digital sensitivity].

I'm not sure what values are best to give the most accurate spinner experience for games like: Arkanoid and Tempest.

If anyone would like to chip in, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!

http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Spinner_Turn_Count

Every game is different and must be set individually for the best feel.

This is how I believe things work, although I've never officially read it anywhere:
If you have multimouse enabled, changing the sensitivity in Windows will do nothing because MAME is getting the input directly from the mouse.
If you have multimouse disabled, MAME gets the input from the windows "system mouse", so it will be affected by your settings in windows.

So to be as accurate as possible, you'd enable multimouse so the spinner isn't affected by the windows settings, then you'd adjust the sensitivity in MAME based on the numbers in the wiki linked above.

Don't mess with the Windows settings.

Use the table and formula from the Wiki that BadMouth posted to set the digital sensitivity.
(Same page on the new wiki is here)

IIRC the TT2 has 1200 counts per turn, same as the example at the top of the wiki page.

Thanks all!  Exactly what I need  :applaud:

So, if Tempest is, 72 count and the Turbo Twist2 is 1200 counts per turn, the sensitivity calculation is: Sensitivity = 100 * 72 / 1200 = 6%   6 is the value I enter in the MAME Analog Controls ==> Digital Sensitivity setting correct?

Thanks

Yes, that's the 1:1 acade accurate setting -- tweak to your personal preference.   ;D
