I decided to upgrade my old shuttle xpc to use as a console emulator.
Original machine was a pentium 4 with a 1 gig of ram. It was ok, but the hardware was so old, and I didn't want to stop using this cool case I bought years ago.
New motherboard is a quad core 2.6 with 8 gigs of ram.
The new motherboard was too long to fit in the case, so I had to remove the card reader and front panel USB and sound ports.
I used JB weld steel stick to patch the holes, sanded smooth and sprayed with rustoleum flat white.
Here are the before and after pics of the front panel.
I can add internal pics if anyone's interested.
The case is a hoojum cubit 5. It's extruded aluminum and built like a tank.
The new board can handle up to 16 gigs of ram and has hdmi and optical ports, so it should allow me to use this 2004 case for a few more years to come.
