CRT TV mounting
« on: December 05, 2013, 10:58:49 am »
As I start to do the mental work on the new cab acquisition (won't start until after my current semester...Discrete Math is kicking my butt...), I'm starting to think of a better way to mount the tv. The cab has a fully cased television in it (haven't looked close but it's probably about a 19"), just sitting on some 2x4's (and can freely slide around on them).
Anyone care to posts pics of how you've mounted cased tv's in cabs? looking for both the back supports, sides, as well as the front...what you may be doing between the tube/case and the cab glass.

Are you set on leaving it in the case? The 'better' way to mount it would be to remove from case, bolt the tube in and mount the PCB(s) to the side of the cabinet, or a shelf.

This, but if you want to leave it in a case that's fine too.  When I've done this with case TV's I use a 2x6 for the base board for the front of the TV to sit on.  Then I put two 2x4's in the back.  One at the butt of the TV and one at the top of the tv to prevent it from going anywhere.  Then I put 1x1's in the front on the bottom and top to hold it in place.  They also work great for resting the Bezel on.  Then one more 2x4 on the top to prevent it from shaking up.  I use window/weather strip foam of 1/4 to 1/2" thickness on all wood except the base to act as a cushion from movement.

This was the first arcade machine I ever did, back in 2002/2003 but this should give you an idea of how you can do it.  The TV was a 27".  As you can see we used the upper speaker board as a stop on the top:
