FS: Williams Defender Original Parts [Salt Lake City, UT, USA]
« on: November 25, 2013, 11:53:24 pm »
I'm parting out a complete Defender cabinet - all original parts from 1980! The wood/artwork was too damaged for my restoration abilities, so I want to get the parts to people who could use them. Shipping will be calculated if you PM me with a ZIP code, unless the item is noted as "local pickup only." Pictures available upon request.

MOST parts sold.

Control Panel: Fully populated with original leaf-switch buttons and joystick. Could use some small wood repair and new artwork/overlay to make it look new. $35
Bezel Retainer Clip: A peculiar metal/plastic thingy that holds the bezel in place. $20
Bezel: Plexiglass. The silk-screened artwork is in excellent shape; there are several small marks/scratches on the surface that you could remove with Novus 1-2-3 polish. $35
Marquee Retainer Clips: A matched set of 2 plastic clips. $20
Marquee: Silkscreened plexiglass. Looks amazing, even after 30+ years. There is a small piece chipped off the bottom-right corner that just shows above the bottom retainer clip. $40
PCB Set with wiring harness: A total of 4 boards with all of the original wiring harnesses attached. CPU, ROMs, Sound, and Input (I think). At the moment, they are all attached to a big piece of sheet metal that would make it very expensive to ship. I'll sell it with the sheet metal mount for local pickup, or without the mount for shipping. I don't know if these work, so they're sold AS-IS. $150 for the set, or I'd consider offers for individual boards.
Power Supply Unit with wiring harness: Contains the power supply unit, isolation transformer, fuses, and power cord. All on 1 piece of wood. Heavy but shippable. $25
Monitor: Wells-Gardner 19K4613 19" color monitor. Quite a lot of "Defender" burn-in, but shouldn't be a problem behind a tinted bezel. Don't know if it works, sold AS-IS. Like most monitors of this age, if you know what you're doing, you can probably get it working well again. Or, use for parts. Heavy - local pickup only. $75
Coin Door: 3 slots - 2 for quarters, 1 for dollar coins (!). Complete and working. The front is not in great shape, but with some effort it could clean up to good, but not like-new, condition. Comes with all the required trim pieces, original wiring harness, and nuts & bolts. Heavy, but not too big, so I'm willing to ship if you want to pay for it. Otherwise, local pickup. $50
Coin Bucket: In pretty good shape with a little bit of rust in places. Fairly heavy, but shippable. $20

Empty Cabinet: Original artwork, but lots of dings/dents/gouges. Completely empty, except for the light fixture behind the marquee (no bulb). Local pickup only. If you're better than me at refurbishing wood, you could make a nice multi-Williams cabinet out of it. $40

If the cab was beyond your abilities to repair, but was salvageable ("you could make a nice multi-Williams cabinet out of it") then why not sell it as a whole to someone else who could save this cab and keep another classic alive for the next 30 years?  Meh, I guess folks will just keep parting classics in the name of making an extra dollar or two and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

On the other hand, if no one ever sold parts, then there wouldn't be any available for people doing repairs/restorations...

As for selling the whole thing to a potential restorer - I tried and couldn't find anyone interested locally.

01960 is the zip.

I'm unsure how we can complete this transaction without the ability to send a pm.

Desperate for the coin door TRIM pieces, if you'd consider selling them separately? No luck finding them here in the UK.
