Been having new siding put onto the house the last month or so. Yesterday they put in the new windows and one of the guys immediately asked about my phonograph player (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,131598.msg1375152.html#msg1375152)
He was really impressed and made sure every other guy that walked in the door saw it.
Later he started asking what other projects I've worked on, so I took him to the basement to show both the finishing of the place (I bought the house a few years ago specifically for the unfinished basement and made quite the enjoyable room out of it) and my arcade machine.
He was really impressed with the machine and the rest of the day kept coming back to talk about it (I'm sure it drove his coworkers nuts). In the end, he told me that he has an old machine he updated with a new tv and shelf for his NES...he asked if I wanted it. Hell yeah! No idea what it looks like but sounded like it was in good shape. still has the coin door, mirrors for the screen, etc, so at the worst, i'll have some spare parts.
Can't wait to come home at the end of a workday to see it sitting in my driveway :)

Siding guy showed up today with the bill for the finished project along with a gift...his employee's old cab.
It's a bit beat up and in serious need of TLC, but I think I may be able to salvage it into something fun.
A couple questions-
1) the front corner has a good chunk from it. Any good ideas on how to repair that? Worst case, I cut both sides at an angle from the front to the floor to make it look like it's supposed to be that way (the chunk missing is a triangle maybe 2"x2"...nothing horrible if I have to angle it).
2) I have absolutely no idea what to do with it for sure, but one maybe-idea. Has anyone ever made a modular CP for a first gen Xbox? have one of those collecting dust...thought it could be fun to use it for gaming/racing games if I could swap out CP's as needed.

awesome...free cabinets are good.  As for the corner, bondo is your friend...build it up in a few layers, but it will fix it nicely.

i think a modded xbox would be a great thing to base a cabinet around, i've been thinking of doing that for a while now.
