Anyone have Wii controllers as light guns working flawlessly?
« on: November 18, 2013, 10:46:13 am »
I mean well enough to seamlessly incorporate the games into your front-end.

I have a pair of generic wii guns that I messed with before, but it always took a few minutes of attempts before it would connect.
(and if I connect the second one, I get the BSOD)

Anyone work this out well enough that they are able to launch games from the front-end and connect to the wii controller automatically?

My roommate and I bought the bluetooth receiver necessary to hook them up to the PC and we could never get them to work. We ended up just settling with playing Mad Dog McCree on the Wii. I don't think this is a solution you'd want to rely on with your MAME cabinet.

Add me to the "never got it to work well" list.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

The way they work, you never will have perfect Wii lightgun support.

Not surprised.  Thought I'd ask before attempting it myself, so as not to re-invent the wheel.

I have other options including an AIM-Trak installed in a hap recoil shell, but I like the look of these guns better (Walther P99 replica) and having it wireless would be cool.  I may end up sticking the AIM-Trak in one of these shells, but it has a d-pad and bunch of buttons that will go unused.

....or maybe just leave the gun games to my old CRT setup since I really don't like IR guns anyway.

Funnily enough - looking into this recently. Aiming to set up wiimotes with my Aimtrak IR transmitters. Haven't started yet, but bookmarked post on how to set up:

dunno if that may help
