  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Ok, so my last thread was a cantankerous one.  I was offering $200-$300 to have someone come install a Vision Pro monitor in my 60-1 Ms Pac.   Game came with a G7 CRT monitor that looked like ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---.  Ok, after hearing so much flak from this community (rightfully so in hindsight) and reading over the instructions of what to do from the guy I bought it from, I knew I could do it.  And props to SNAAAKE for offering to come by and do it for me...I owe him some drinks.

So basically the swap was easy.  Just a few spliced wires and then mounting it onto the G7 bracket and it slid right in (that's what she said).   The picture was 100X better.  So bright and clear...and the monitor controls are so easy to access, can get to them via the coin door.   Took some pictures of the job.  Thanks to all of you, I will now roll up my sleeves (when I can) and learn how to work on these cabinets.

How much did you charge yourself?

No hate here.  I've been there, done that and no amount of money could make the problem go away.  I'm not ashamed to admit that problem games were kicked down the line back before I had a better idea what I was doing.  Glad you got it going.

Great job. Also I am very jealous of the Transformers collection you have.

Well, there's nothing as satisfying as seeing a good picture beaming through the monitor.   The G7 had some really bad burn in and image warp issues.   I will say this, the Vision Pro gives you a nice solid picture.

Do you guys with a Ms Pac use tinted glass under your Bezel glass?  This one has it, and it gives it a nice, warm look.  Doesn't Jump out at you like the Tron brightness, but that's because Tron doesn't have a tinted film covering the monitor.  Anyway, I love working on these games.  Building this room has been so much fun.  I really can't wait until it's done and I can just enjoy the games.  For some reason, it's hard to just "play" them knowing there's other work to be done.

That's the saddest thing I have ever read.   ;D

Congrats on getting the job done.

I think people can relate.  It's like you don't want to invite your friends over play until the room is done.  Right now, I just need two more items (my mame and Fix it Felix Jr), then hang the Mame's TV, hang my marquees, get some bean bags and it's party time.   Planning to have a launch party in December, but not really sure I'll hit that now.

that looks awesome, also where did you get that colorful carpet? I like anything that has that "pixelated" look.

Thanks.  They are carpet tiles.  Got them from FLOR.  You can have them cut the tiles into 1/4 squares.  Real easy to lay down.
