How some of you guys know did I buy a Hang-On cab last week from eBay. Since my bid could not be placed I contacted the seller directly and bet him 50€ which was fine with him.

I jumped in my friends 2013 Landrover to pick it 3 hours from my town....and I hoped it would fit in the car...it did  ;D

The guy said he can hear the sound of the game but the screen stays black.
That is not a problem for me since I am sure it got at least minor burn ins and I am intendet to run MAME to play severel motocylce, jetski and ATV-games on it.

So even if the PCB would have been spoiled it would not be a problem for me.

Once I had the cab in my place I started to desmantle it.
What I can say for now is, even if the PCB is ok, it is long time ago that someone could successfully run down the track.

No Brake-Lever (and a de-cogged pot) and no pull back springs......it must have been a horror to play that game.

The upload is very limited on the board, so I uploaded it to an image hoster and hope that this is allowed.

Sounds like you have monitor problems, and more than likely the board is fine, I would keep that monitor around (even with the burn) cause its a 20" and they are really hard to find should you want to convert it back from a mame thing to a working original... That control panel is an ugly thing to restore, (quite complicated) my only advice there would be get all your parts before you tear it down and take lots of pics. They were subjected to a lot of stress in the real world and as a result can have some interesting stress related issues... Good news is though nos parts are avalable should you be willing to spend that kind of cash.

I already ordered NOS-parts for around 300USD plus shipping.
NOS is great and if you can get them you should take ´em, especially on controls like that.

Accelerator and brake-lever will be new as well, although I still dont know what I get in the bike shop, but its great that they used real motocycle-suff....       .....and whats unbelieve is that EVEN THOUGH they went with real motocycle-parts, its still destoyed!!! ::)

Of course I will keep the monitor.
I have an eye of an 20" Sony PVM, they guy is asking for 180, but I bet 100 for it.

With its ability to display 900 lines it would be easy to run newer motocycle games as well.

I have list of around 30 games that I would like to emulate on that cabinet...and that are:

Hang-On (of course)
Super Hang-ONCyber Cycles
SEGA Wave Runner
Riding Hero
Racing Hero
GP Rider
Cool Riders
ManxTT Superbike
L.A-Riders
Super Bike 1 & 2
Road Burners
Speed Rider
Harley Davidson - King of the Road
Motor Raid
Nirin
Wild Riders
Suzuka 8 hours 1 & 2
Namco GP 500 FIM World Championship
The fast and the furious: Super Bikes
ATV Track Quad Bike
Radikal Bikers
MX vs ATV Reflex
Star Rider (laser Disc-game)
Stadium Cross
Taito GP

I am not sure if all of that games are possible and if some are doubled with different names but thats it for now, please add all motocycle / ATV / jetski-games you remember.
Hang-On got only ONE course with 5 sections....thats a bit less, so to play more games would make sense.
I look forward to that one:

Of course I will restore that game to its original glory. I would like to reach a 10 of 10 quality which should be possible with all the new stuff.

I still would like to know how the original grips looks like.

......and to get a bench someday will keep an illusion....I will build one myself  :-\

thats crazy............ by accident I have found a company that sells the Hang-On Handlebar-cover HERE IN VIENNA (where I live), seems like they stock even more than one....also other parts the US-company does not have!!!!

For the crazy price of 19,90€
If one of you want one just tell me, I am there at monday.

Maybe I take two, one as a backup and one where I can build view-buttons in, I have a bell ringing in my head that one of the listet games got view-buttons like Daytona USA.....maybe one of you guys know something....

I thought you said it was a sitdown model?  That's the upright version.

It's actually a better choice for mame-ing because I didn't have a clue how you were going to add other games to a cabinet in which you tilted a plastic motorcycle to steer.  It works for hang-on, but not much else.

Its in fact the sit-down model, you most probably misstake with the "ride-on-model"

Upright:

As well as:

Sitdown:

You may think its just an upright with a bench, the truth is that it is around 8" lower than the previous one.

Ride-on:

And everything else are Super Hang-On Versions.

Todays results:

http://s1298.photobucket.com/user/synonym999/library/Hang-On%20restoration/NOS%20and%20new%20stuff

A new steering-cover, new steeringsprings (only one showen), now stop-bumpers (they still have 8 left, so 4 pairs of if you want some) and the ring is something that I have to find out when I remove the steering-assembly.

Sir,

sorry for the late replay, I could not find the right thread.

My Hang-On is a 3-pot device too, most probably like 99,9% of all car, bike or whatever games.

My only concern is if you can move the big bike fast enough to corner just in time, but I always had that concern even for Hang-On itself, so you chance is quite good.

Namco GB 500 FIM superbike on that huge sucker must be GREAT!  ;D

It would be nice to do that project together..... feel free to join my group

"the M.A.M.E.-project" on Facebook since nobody seems to be interestet in that stuff here.

..........just opened the image and took a closer look.
That ride on-bike is so awsome, you really should M.A.M.E. it since it is a Hang-On, not a Super Hang-on, right?

Means it got one course with 5 stages.....what a waste for such stunning thing.

You could use the mame´ing and restore it, the brakelever and accelerator have seen better times :)
