Pin out for Tornado PCB for Opti-Pac
« on: October 26, 2013, 10:37:18 pm »
I recently bought a tornado spinner to replace my old tron spinner I had on my control panel which was hooked up to an Opti-pac.

I decided to buy it new from e-bay since the list price was a little cheaper. Regretting that decision now.   Instead of getting one with a USB connection I opted for the PCB to connect it directly to my existing Opti-pac.

When it arrived it had now molex or wiring to hook up to the Opti-pac.  Grrrr.  Now I have to 1. Find a connector that will fit it 2. build one myself or 3. Solder the wires on.

The pins on the PCB are also unmarked and I can't find any documentation on it.  Does anyone know what the pinout is for this PCB?  It's a SlikStik 4205 optic sensor.

If it is the same as a Happ trackball board it will have the following pinouts.  See picture.

To check this please provide a picture of the underside of the board so I can see how the actual circuit is connected.

I don't think it the same.  May give this a try but it a real pain to connect it all and then test it.

Was there a reason for replacing the Tron spinner?  If the optic board finally went in it, you could have got a reproduction optical board for the Tron spinner.

He also carries the molex connector you need for the slikstik board.
There is a chance that the slikstik optical board could be like the oscar optical board for the pin out.
Which is different from the Atari & happ optical boards.

Here ya go.   Now I'm also concerned that there is no chips on this board.

You know, there really wasn't anything wrong with my Tron Spinner other than it being large and bulky. It has served me well for over 10 years with almost no thought.

I was upgrading controls (Fancy LED's) and I had to remove the knob and Rod from the spinner.  A bit of a pain but afterwards I was having issues getting it put back together. Couldn't get the knob rob to go back in correctly, even after I tightened down the small screws with the allen wrench  the rod was just turning without moving the optic wheel.  I said screw it, I'll try one of these fancy new spinner and see what all the fuss is about.

So far not my favorite purchase.
