We're kids at heart -- pics and stories are always welcome.   ;D

You may want to move the list to the first post of the thread so everyone can find it easily and not have to remember which page it is on and scroll through the posts.

I suspect that this will be a very large thread.  ;D

So the story....

I was at work (I work for BNY Mellon dfoing their IT support) and I was browsing Craigslist one day because we were all talking about something (I forget what it was) and I happened across an ad.

THe ad said "Wanted: Someone to do pinball machine repair"

Wel, I used to work in several arcades, doing all of their repair work.

So I called the guy up, he lives near me, and I go pay him a visit.

We work up a deal, and I do some work for him.

One day he says to me "Ya know, I have a friend who has 400+ machines, are you interested?"

Heck yeah!

So I call up person #2, and find out he is in Pittsburgh, which is about 45mins away from me.

So I do some work for him, and he tells me the last time "I'm going to give you keys so you come and go as you please".

Heck ya!!!

Yeah, it was all on a whim.

I'd love to make it full time, but neither people are able to pay me full time rates.

I think the Pittsbugh guy could, becuase he buys more machines than he sells.

I'll be building a supergun (never knew it had a name until I started researching) to test all of these machines before they leave the shop.

He's also got a degausser, a tube rejuvinator, and various other tools that I have never seen before.

He wants me to look up how to use the tube rejuvinator, which scares me a little bit.

He's teaching me how to recap a monitor next. I already know how to do the mechanical part (desoldering, soldering, etc), I just don't know how to tell if the monitor actually needs recapped or not.

Well nerts  :lol  I'm not going to call "dibs" on anything Moneybags Maximus has his eyes on, too. My tron is going to have some special "additions" when I get around to it, so I'd rather see a whole original cab go to him  then me yanking the boards or CP. If you come across another though I will eventually need a set of controls.

Radarscope was just an addition to my big nintendo custom cab in the planning stages. Again, if Max is going to keep it complete I'm not taking the board.

Awww thanks TKW4rr10r,

Yeah I'm only looking at complete cabs to fully restore to put in my home arcade, although I think Jumpman64 has the 'JUMP'  :P on me on the RadarScope at this point. Parting out some of these older cabs would be a crime against humanity.

I know Keith was pretty attached to Radarscope.

He mumbled something about it being a Nintendo cab.

Yep it's a Nintendo game, it was actually a huge flop in the US and nearly buried them, but then they came out with 'Stubborn Ape' who's name was translated into an unheard of game called 'Donkey Kong' which apparently did OK for them  ;D

Damn... well I'll certainly understand if he doesn't want to sell the Radarscope.  I can certainly tell you I would NOT be parting it out!  I need to look back through the pics because I'm sure there's more stuff I'd be interested in, but that was the one that really spoke to me on first glance.

Edit -- after looking again I'd also be interested in Warp Warp if the rest of the cab is as good as the portion photo'd, & possibly Tempest if the game is complete.  Thanks!

I spoke with the owner of the games last night and told him "I've got a list of about 50 things to sell for you".

He said he'd look over the list and give me some prices.

I'll grab some detailed pics of all the parts in question, and set everything aside so we don't use it for any of the rebuilds.

I don't remember Professor Pacman from the arcades. Wasn't really much of a Pacman series fan. Was it any good?

That VR helmet IS interesting. What game is it tied to?

Professor Pac-Man was not one of my faves.... that said, I would like to have more pics of it. Front, sides, marquee CP and bezel. Always good to have reference material..... biggest question I have is how complete it is and is it running Professor Pac-Man or Pac-Land??

I've spoken with Keith to see what is and what isn't for sale.

I gave him the list and he said he'd look it over and get back to me.

Once he does that, I'll start posting things in the FS/FT forum.

I can tell you that the items he confirmed as available for sale are:

Some cabs,
some boards,
and a bunch of neo-geo stuff.

I'm a little confused about the process here, mostly the part about taking names for items and then saying you're going to list them in the FT/FS section later, maybe I'm just missing something obvious here (wouldn't be the first time).

Azure hit the nail on the head.

THere's just soooooo many games, and I have no idea what is or isn't for sale yet.

Once I have some specifics, I'll be posting in the FS/FT area (which I have already done for a few of the machines).

I'm posting these for a few reasons.

#1: To show off of course!
#2: If someone needs a good pic of a particular machine, I can help with that.
#3: Its fun just to see pics of old machines that maybe you'd forgotten about.
#4: It helps me keep myself organzied when doing the repairs as well. I'll always have a pic to go back to for info.

That really doesn't answer my question, I'll rephrase it.

If someone has their name down in your list already for a part/cab etc, are you going to give them first refusal before posting that item for sale?

I would hope that you are going to give first refusal to those that expressed interest in the order they came along, otherwise I cannot see why you would have gathered names in the first place?

Once the owner sets a price, the general practice is to go in the order of PMs/posts.

If you can't reach a mutually acceptable arrangement with the first PM'er/poster, you move on to the second. . .

Once you finish the list of PM'ers/posters start a B/S/T thread for the cab.

While we are asking niggling questions I guess I'll just throw all mine out on the table here...

- Why does Keith have such a large collection of older machines? It's an unusual collection to see from someone running a regular arcade route, typically you would only expect these sort of titles in a retro business or collector's storage.

- Again, it's unusual that someone with a collection of titles like this isn't already engaged in the web arcade community, It's a little unclear as to why he's seemingly disconnected and asking you to do all the communicating.

- This sale opportunity screams to be on KLOV but I've not seen or heard anything there about it

Like I said, these are niggling questions that have been on my mind since this thread started, the levels of apparent disconnect between the seller and the potential end buyers is a little unsettling in my mind.

Jennifer gets all thumbs up, and +1.... Except the part about KLOVE, they can just come over here if they want.
