Rowe AMI CD Jukebox: Philips Pro Player Issue
« on: October 20, 2013, 10:39:40 pm »
Rowe Ami CD Jukebox Model F

Some selections made will play the song perfectly with no issues.  Others will begin to play and then midway through the song stop.  The CD player continues to spin, slows down, goes in the other direction, builds up speed again in the correction direction and the pick up the song where it left off.  I have a Philips CD Pro Player in this unit.  In service mode, the jukebox reports no errors and no disc conditions.  I've cleaned all the CD's and the laser and the issue still happens at a rate of about 1 out of every 5 selections made.  I'm really at a loss here.  New Pro Player units are expensive, and I'd like to be sure that is definitely the issue before going about replacing it.  If anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

I had a similar issue, an inexpensive rebuild kit for the OP did the trick (one of the board members here sells them on ebay, great service).  Ultimate fix was converting it to MP3.

The optics in the player are failing. The choices you have are:

1. You can ship the player out for repair.

2. You can order the parts and repair the player yourself.

3. You can buy a used working player on ebay.

4. You can purchase a brand new player.
