60in1 - gibberish on 1 screen, but works on another
« on: October 13, 2013, 06:12:56 pm »
Alright so, I wired in a jamma harness for a 60in1 in my Frogger(do not worry, nothing harmed in the process, just not prepared to do board work on a Frogger as I am still so green). I created a new control panel, etc, so nothing harmed. I plugged in my broken Superman, error message comes up great(Knew this board had issue, just wanted to see the message so I knew it was powering up correctly). So powered off, and put in 60in1, I get gibberish, lines flashing. I adjust horizontal, it doesnt help. Strange, but gets stranger. I remove the 60in1 and put it in my Guerrilla War machine, and it boots fine, no adjustment.

Any thoughts? I will try and get photos tomorrow, just wandering if these are finicky depending on what monitor I am using. Wells Gardner K4600 in the Frogger cab.

The idea was to get this up and running while I learn some board repair on my Superman, Rampage, then eventually Frogger, but he is fighting me all the way, lol.

Either your sync is wired wrong or you aren't adjusting your monitor correctly. They are not really finicky about monitor type, I use one as the test board on my monitor repair bench and I have driven just about every monitor out there with the things.

IIRC Sega Frogger boards were positive sync and Konami ones were negative. Your 60 in 1 board is negative sync and I wouldn't be surprised if you still have your cabinet wired for positive sync.

Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Thanks, I think you might be right. No time tonight, but hoping to give it a try tomorrow.

Thanks again.

That definitely sort of worked, lol. I am using a jamma harness from the a defunct Superman, and it looks like only the vertical hold was ever set up, the horizontal hold just ended in a cut off. I switched the vertical from positive to negative and I have picture, although it won't hold worth a damn now. But its a start. I have to bring the kids to Pumpkin Fest and see if tonight Keene, NH reclaims the Jack_o_Lantern record, but will tinker more on it later. Assuming I need to work that horizontal in there, and really need to refresh myself on how to setup the hold, the screen, the colors on my 19k4600 Wells.

Thanks again

Just wanted to give a quick update here in case anyone else has the same error. From what I gather the sync is not only negative fro the 60-1 but a combined sync. So I conecceted both the Horizontal and Vertical from the jamma into the vertical of the monitor and it works.

Thanks again paigeoliver for getting me on the right track. Is good to have that cabinet up and running, makes the arcade feel less like a boneyard, lol. Put the Frogger PCB aside for now. Once I get Rampage and Superman up and running, hopefully I will feel more confident about facing the Frogger board, it has sound issues, once thought it had graphic glitch, but now with the 60in1 I realize its more a monitor issue as the lines are still there. I had cap kit 6 weeks or so ago, but the kit only replaced 1/2 to 3/4 of the caps, so will probably over the winter redo them all and see if I can bring the monitor back to its former glory.
