Coin Door: credits multiplier?
« on: November 19, 2003, 09:17:29 pm »
getting in the grove building my cabinet,  :P
with the coindoor i would like so you get 3 credits per coin,
i have noticed in some games this can be set via 'DIP switches' or 'service mode' in MAME but its not all which allow this, more like around half.

ofcause when you insert a coin, the switch gets pushed once.
would it be difficult to build an electronic circuit, which makes it act as its pushed 3 (pulses?) times and how?

thanks in advance!!

This actually got me thinking. I recently bought a cooin door that had something very strange done too it. On the back pannel where the coin chute and microswitch are there wasn't just one there but a second chute for it too go through with another microswitch. So maybe if you can attach 3 microswitches, each connected to your player 1 credit on the encoder it will pulse the first time throught the first one, then a second time through the second one and finally a third time through the third one as the coin falls past each little catch on the microswith. May sound confusing but I hope it gives you some ideas.

or

i like the look of the second one the best.

The Happ one looks inexpensive. And yes it should work fine for Mame. Stuff like that is designed for universal application.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Some Games allow you to choose the number of credits per coin, by pressing Tab or F2.

All you need is a logic pulse generating chip. Take a couple and make em count 3 pulses output for every pulse input.   Check out the "Giant IC Masturbator" on the web (seriously, that's the name) and looks for some 74LSxxx chips and you'll find ones you can use.
