Video snaps, cant get this working: mame 124
« on: October 09, 2013, 02:17:51 pm »
i finally upgraded my mame pc and i now have enough horsepower to run video snaps in MALA..

.i have about 15gb of video snaps that i downloaded from somewhere several years ago (don't remember where) but i am missing videos for many of the games in my favorites list (TMNT, XMEN, etc).  I can't seem to find anywhere to easily download a complete pack, without paying a bunch of money to emumovies.  i may be able to find individual videos to download for each game that is missing one in my favorites list, but that is a very time consuming process.

I found a script online that would run mame and generate avi files for all the roms one at a time (plays game for 50 seconds, then trims off the first 20) but i couldn't get it to work. after looking through the batch file, i noticed that it was using an -aviwrite switch with mame, which apparently was not a valid switch for mame .124.

I don't really want to upgrade my version of mame and try to track down another romset...

is there a way to generate videos with my old version of mame that will play in MALA?  i saw some mention of mng files, but i'm not sure what they are, and i dont think i will get sound with that method.

is there a version of mame that supports aviwrite and may still work with the majority of my existing roms?

what options do i have?

For halloween I dressed as a "pirate" and went to a party at the "bay".  While partying I found a container that had "Tor" printed on the side and then I realized I didn't pay my "rent" this month and I'm "150" in arrears so my "artwork/videos/snaps" might be repo'd.

Besides spoots epic post, you can still download videos 1 at a time from emumovies for free but are limited to about 50 a day or something.
