Raspberry Pi and Speakers 5W
« on: October 09, 2013, 09:04:14 am »
Hi guys,
I will need your help for the audio of my arcade cabinet.
I have a Raspberry Pi with Sanwa buttons connected with KADE.

So now, I want to connect 2 speakers, but I'm not sure how.
Speakers : http://www.arcadeshop.de/Audio-Video-Speaker-5-Watt_323.html

My understanding is that I have to use an amplifier for that, because I can't connect directly to the Raspberry. Am I right ?
Audio amplifier : http://www.arcadeshop.de/Audio-Video-Audio-Amplifier-stereo_767.html

Raspberry Pi -> Audio Amplifier -> Speakers

But I think I will need a power supply for the amplifier...
This one ? : http://www.arcadeshop.de/Power-Supply-Power-Supply-130W-5/12/-5V_338.html

It seems very expensive and immoderate for these little tow speakers...  :o
At least for the power supply.

Thanks for any advice  ;D

Check eBay for the "Lepai" mini amplifier. Works a charm.

You may need to change the audio output on the Pi as I think it's set to HDMI as default, you can choose one of two audio outputs on RaspberryPi using amixer command. You can use one of three modes: 0=auto, 1=analog, 2=hdmi, like this: sudo amixer cset numid=3

Thanks for the information about the Lepai amp. I'm also using a Pi, so this may be the solution I'm looking for.
