Are there 2 sides to MDF?
« on: October 08, 2013, 05:44:15 pm »
Ok, my 'dumb' question for the day  :banghead:  New to working with MDF, and I bought some 'raw' MDF, and I'm not sure if it's my imagination or not, but one side feels smoother than the other.  So the question is, is MDF boards the same on both sides?

I'm sorry, If there is a difference then we are not buying the same MDF.

Can't really tell the difference between sides on the MDF from Menards.

Maybe one face on yours was scuffed up a bit before you bought it.   :dunno

MDF does not have A and B sides like plywood does but sometimes there can be very minor differences between the sides. Not worth worrying about

If one side has been exposed for any length of time to the sun, it will have a slightly different texture due to weathing, but that's it as far as I know of.

Lightly sand that ---smurfette--- down- it'll be smooth in no time.
