Modding aimtracks into different houseings?
« on: October 07, 2013, 11:00:07 am »
Hey guys. Thinking about which project I want to start next and one of them is a dedicated gun cabinet.  I'm going to end up using Aimtracks but have a question.

If I want to put the Aimtrack's guts into another shell, say either a shotgun or rifle shell (arcade replacement halves) how easy (or possible) would it be to use the Aimtracks trigger mechanism in the new housing.  Or should I try to find a complete gun with triggers allready installed to attach the Aimtrack circuitry into?

The other thing I'm wondering is if there are any well written tutorials on how to do something similiar?  I remember reading posts where people modded Aimtracks into airsoft guns but don't remember them being detailed posts.

I've been kicking around the idea of putting act labs guts in a shotgun for a while.  Get a complete gun.  It will be much less of a hassle.  In addition to the trigger, you've got the pump action and all that too that you'd have to add.

You can buy the aim-trak pcb without a shell.  Spend your money on the arcade shell instead of buying a complete aim-trak gun.

There are several tutorials.  Use the search function.

I just looked up the pcb BadMouth referenced. It looks like you could put it in some broken NES guns. That would kick butt.

Heres the link http://www.ultimarc.com/aimtrak_module.html

I built a couple of 'handguns' from Aimtrak OEM parts, if that's any use. In the end, quite easy given the saving. How to here:

there's nothing special about the aimtrak trigger, it's just a tac switch.  make sure the gun you get has it's own trigger and trigger switch.  much easier.
