Source for 5v "Angel Eyes" LED's?
« on: October 02, 2013, 12:05:32 pm »
I'm looking to add Angel Eyes-type led's around my Joysticks and spinner.  All the ones I've found so far are for 12 Volt connections.  I'm looking for 5v versions that I can hook-up to my PacLED64 for use with LEDBlinky.  Anyone know where I might get some?

I always run 12v LED buttons off 5v from USB -- less current draw and they look as bright IMHO.  YMMV.

Good to know!  They're are some pretty cheap options.  I may give em a try.  RGB would probably the way I want to go.

It's easy enough to make them. I made a set for one of my cars one time.

You might want to look in the for sale section at the neph rings. Not exactly an angel eye, but still really cool.

If the 12v RGBs don't work with 5v, you can also replace the current limiting resistor or wire a second resistor in parallel with the current limiting resistor to reduce the voltage drop across the resistor.

LMK if you need help calculating the proper value resistor once you get the LEDs.

The red wire on your molex connector from power supply is 5v. Both black wires are ground. Yellow is 12v.
