Jukebox software options for dual monitors?
« on: October 01, 2013, 05:30:50 pm »
I'm looking to design a new wall-mount jukebox, and have absolutely NO CLUE of available options. I figured I'd start reading threads, and came across saint's sticky, listing pretty much every ... single ... software option available. I'm still reading, but I hope that if I provided some input, the community might be able to help me out.

I am picturing a design where there would be two 17" screens - one for the interface software, and one for some type of visualization which would be affected by the music playing. Is there such a beast? Does any software presently offer an option such as this?

I'm not planning on using touch screens with my prototype, so I'll be using arcade buttons. So, the software I'm hoping to use should be fairly easy to navigate using a minimum of inputs.

What should I be looking for? Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

Good luck with the project!
Take a look at Touchjams.
I just created the newest skin for it (some say it's the best skin).
I've been happy with the program.

I think it has dual monitor support.

Touchjams indeed uses dual monitors. Although I ultimately decided not to use it on my current jukebox build, it's still a decent pickup and I will use it somewhere.

WELLL........................... Bob (the brains behind TouchJams) said it was the best!
I personally like it, but my view is skewed!  :-\
None the less, skin aside, cool program.
Not sure if it is still on sale.

one more thing about TJ... the support and updates are awesome and up to date. Any questions you might have get answered very quickly. "Bob M."  is the bomb.  Believe me, I've tried all the jukebox software you are probably looking at right now , the free versions and the one's you need to purchase. My wife can agree that TJ is very user-friendly. I have sold a couple of jukes with TJ,,,everybody likes it.

Hi Mike Boss,,,,i definitely like the skin you made... any chance it'll be done for 1024x768?

Indeed it does and it supports key inputs so you could get it running with your arcade controls however it really is designed for a touchscreen to get the most out of it. Not sure if the more traditional non touch ones support dual screen...

My only complaint about tj is that my download link expired before I download ed it to my jukebox. I have posted in the tj thread and emailed. Still no response.

@ toeknee

I'm glad you like the skin.
I'll be working on more skins again soon I'm sure.
As far as redoing what I've done I don't think I will.
It takes quite a bit of time and once I'm happy I don't really go back to it.
ALSO (to be honest) since my touchscreen deal fell thru the motivation dropped.
All be it I use TJ's almost daily while on my PC farting about the real "mo-jo" is gone........FOR NOW!

I'll be sure however to make sure people are aware when new skins come out.
