Give me your thoughts on Fightsticks.

I'm going to be making some fightsticks. Mostly for Defender and Robotron fans.

My own first panel I made was very deep and sloped down to very shallow at the front, and overhung the front of the desk. That seemed right for my set-up. see sketch.

Most sticks I see are simple boxes, quite small, and flat.

So I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong?  My customers aren't going to be using the fightsticks on their laps, or stuffing them in a baclpack to BMX round to their mates house.

I'm also keen on a rounded front edge with graphics on the front face, like a real control panel (OK defender had no front, but I'll add one).

If you're designing for use on a desk, then definitely go slanted.  The flat-style fightsticks are suitable for using in a lap, but not so much on a desk.

Just have to make sure that the part contacting the table has enough anti-skid stuff on it that it doesn't slide forward.
