What do you call a box that has the controls and computer only?
« on: September 18, 2013, 09:17:20 am »
Sorry if that sounds stupid  ;D

I was telling a friend of mine about what I saw here that was just a box with controls and a computer built in that you would plug up to a TV. Kind of like a Tankstick with the computer inside.

I want to be able to search for different designs but don't know what you guys were calling the darn thing...LOL

Thanks,
Scott

I would call it custom.
If I had only one wish, it would be for three more wishes.

OK, I thought they were called something in particular like the bartop, pedestal, etc... It was basically like an over sized arcade stick but maybe it was just a controller and did not have a computer built in.

I was looking to make like a portable arcade that would have everything but the screen built-in that I could take wherever I want and just plug it in to someone's TV.

I would call it a headless arcade console.

Ok thanks. Looking back thru the forums I think what I saw were arcade sticks that are only controllers that people used for Xbox, Playstation or even MAME. I can use those for ideas of what I want...thanks!

I'd call it a MAME supergun.

I mean you can stick a Raspberry Pi or a MK 808 into a X Arcade controller and have a video lead for the display.

But it will still be a custom control panel.
If I had only one wish, it would be for three more wishes.
