Probably a very easy NOOB question here about 4 way joystick
« on: September 17, 2013, 01:37:52 pm »
Hello experts!!  I recently bought a wiring kit and joystick from ultimarc.com.  I chose a stick that could be restricted to true 4 way use because I am using it to rebuild a CP for Q*bert.  My question is, the stick has a moveable restrictor plate that can be tightened with screws... but I'm unsure which position locks the corners out ( leaving only up, dn, L, R able to hit switches).  Can anyone advise?  Sorry if this is covered elsewhere.  And any advice on getting the angles perfect to mount the stick correctly ? ( a 45 degree turn to allow for authentic Q*bert moves... :)    Thank you all in advance !!!

If it is the type of restrictor plate I am thinking, the plate will a have diamond shaped hole when restricting to 4 ways.

You want the restrictor to be in a diamond shape where each direction is a point on the diamond.

You want the restrictor plate rotated to diamond shape relative to the square/rectangle joystick base. Then you want the joystick at 45degress in your panel.
On forums jimmer speaks for himself as a Defender fan, not as proprietor of www.jbgaming.co.uk  << Is that advertising or disclosure ? or both ?

Or use their UltraStick360 which you can configure in software to have 4-way diagonal directions for Q-bert (and 2/4/8 way for all other games as a bonus).
