T-Molding on bottom of cab?
« on: November 18, 2003, 10:36:57 am »
I am using Lusid's cab design and I just cut the sides of my cab out of 3/4" Oak ply.  I have routed the groove for the t-molding around the front, top and back and was wondering if I should put t-molding on the bottom edge or just leave it.  Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.  Thanks.

In my many years of experience working on commercial coin-op games, I have found that cabinets with the t-molding all the way around were more durable and long lasting. I say do it all the way.  8)

I say, if you have it use, if you don't have it, thats okay too--just go naked on the bottom.
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

Thanks for the input guys.  I have 60 feet of t-molding so there should be enough, and I can always get more if I need to.  I guess I'll take the extra 30 seconds to fire the router back up and slot the bottom edge.  Thanks again.

I hadn't bothered routing the bottom for t-molding...

Perhaps I'll fire up the router again too :)

After seeing how the corners had broken off when I got the cab. I went to Home depot and got some of that metal roof edging and put that along the bottom. Nice and strong. I also painted it to match the rest of the cab.
Just an idea. :)
