What Options for 4/8 Switchable joysticks?
« on: September 08, 2013, 09:27:34 pm »
Hey Guys
I have been out of loop for some time.  I am looking at making a slim with 2 bat style joysticks, but would like them to be switchable from 4 and 8 way from ontop the panel if possible.  I am wondering what options are available? Can they switch automatically via mame to the correct settings for each game? Any advice?

thanks
Jim

i'd go with servostiks from ultimarc. they can be set to auto rotate the physical restrictor plate when a game is launched, plus they are based on a sanwa JLW, which is an awesome stick.

Sanwa JLW's.

JLWs are what i used in my cabinets, they are awesome sticks that work very well in both 4 and 8 way.  you can get both ball and bat top versions, but they are not switchable from the top of the panel.  They normally requre you to loosen 4 screws to turn the restrictor, but if you get them from Ultimarc, they are modified so that you can switch them without loosening the screws.

just reach up under the stick and turn the restrictor plate.

I was wondering if they make sticks that are switchable that can light up?

Paradise has several sizes of hollow JLW shafts here.

How exactly do the joysticks light up? I always thought the actual top was lit?
I still would like controllers thare are switchable automatically on top. Those swans ones look like they are not. Also I can't decide between bat or ball top.

Don't recall seeing any translucent/lightable bat-tops.   :dunno

LED wires run through the hollow shaft -- 6mm for single color LED, 10mm for RGB LED. (verify this before ordering)

The LED rests in the top of the hollow shaft and the balltop threads engage the threads on the top of the shaft.

Choose a balltop that is not opaque so the LED light shines through.
