Whats that Beat'em up?
« on: September 04, 2013, 01:38:57 pm »
Hi all,

My Brother and I used to play a beat them up back in the day. It had a store in the game that the players could buy up grades with real money, using the coin slot.

Does any one know what game  this is?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Sounds like a precursor to all of these "free" cell phones games with their in-app purchases!

Ahead of its time!

It was definitely designed to separate kids from quarters, to be fare so were all most all arcade games.

I think you could do that in Double Dragon III: The Rosetta Stone.

it's the only beat'em'up game I can think of with that terrible (and unpopular) mechanic from back in the day.

IGS have been trying it again recently with things like KOV3 now that DLC and buy-in solutions are unfortunately common on phones / consoles / web games, but very few manufacturers used it back in the day.

Maybe you're just getting a combination of games mixed up in your head, something like Double Dragon 3 crossed with Altered Beast?

I was thinking the same. I'll email my brother to ask him to look.
