keyboard hack with shift function?
« on: August 26, 2013, 07:30:28 am »
I just hacked a keyboard instead of buying an i-pac, and so far it seems to work well.  Now I'm just wondering if there is a way to emulate the shift function of an i-pac with my keyboard hack?  I'm noticing on my SNES emulator program I can't bind a shift or caps lock key and another key at the same time, so i'm guessing the answer is NO, but I thought I should ask before I start drilling a million button holes in my joystick box.

Use autohotkey software. Check out my app frontendhelper which is a work in progress using autohotkey. Programming skills required.

Hey, good idea.  I've actually used that before.  But I'll need to find a Linux alternative for this project.  I can google for that!  Thanks.

No activity for the past 2 years, but you may want to give xbindkeys a shot. I personally haven't recommended it, but many people on the net seem to recommend it for all shirts of shiat.

I found some $5 keyboards at Big Lots so I thought I'd give it a shot.  I melted the first one with my soldering iron lol.  The second one was perfect.  And figuring out the right keys to use was challenging.  It was a total pain in the butt, but it's worth saving $30 :D  Now that I know how, I look forward to the next one.
