Wiring problem, PC or something else?
«

I was just playing Pacman and Pacman ran into a wall and then just got stuck. I then tried R-Type and 1942 and every little while my ship would just go in one direction and then stop and controls wouldn't work. I'm sure this is something totally obvious to you folks but does anyone know the problem.
I am running Mame32 v67 on a 1.7GHz Celeron with 128MB RAM my interface is an IPAC2. Wiring looks fine.
Thanks

C'mon folks this must have happened to someone --BINGO! Either that, or I was attempting to say "before" but it was too many letters to type--?

Is there one particular direction that seems to hang? I mean, is it always when PacMan is going left? Once they're stuck, does the game keep running? Can you use the keyboard at that point to move PacMan?

Pacman was going left but R Type was going up and down when it got stuck and 1942 going left and right when it got stuck. The game keeps running but I haven't had time to try the keyboard as I pretty much die instantly, lol.

Apollo,
Check this thread,
http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=6571;start=msg51110#msg51110
I had some odd issues with the MS Sidewinder driver. MAME had an issue because I had a driver installed, but I had joystick set to 0 in the mame.ini file.
The problem went away if I uninstalled the driver, or set joystick=1 in the mame.ini file.
The next time it happens, try hitting the tab key and see if the menu arrows start scrolling by themselves. If they do, you priobably have the same problem.
I hope that helps.
