NSM Performer Wall Mount juke box
« on: August 13, 2013, 11:14:31 am »
Greetings all,
We just acquired this unit for our bar but don't have the barrel key to open it.  It's throwing an error code 73 which looks like it's being caused by a cd not loading properly.  Is there anyway to get this unit open without destroying the side panel?  The guys at NSM suggested I may be able to pry the side open, wondering if anyone here has had to go this route?  Any info would be a great help, he mentioned the lock is connected to a slide rod and two hooks that fasten the panel, having never been inside the unit, I'm in the dark  :dunno

there is 3 ways we deal with that problem

a=get the barrel  or lock #,it should be printed on the face of the barrel lock, have a lock smith cut u a new key

b=call a lock smith out to use his master barrel key to open it and cut u a key then
pricey but..

c=drill it out, replace barrel lock, they are 1-5/8" long lock or 1" or 7/8" common lock from happ controls

i can chk my unit at the warehouse for size

ed12, thank you for the prompt reply   Kind of figured those were my options, will any regular drill bit do?-drilling is preferable to keep the unit original specs

to keep it origanl
is a lock smith route

to drill
u see where there is slight hole of to the side of the lock in the barrel ?
if so 1/8" drill bit till it bottoms out
this will destory the tumbler's
then u poilt a hole just about dead center of barrel till it bottoms out
then about a 7/16" or a tad larger
until it bottoms out, lock will then turn the barrel with a straight :flat: screwdriver
it makes the lock usless at the first drill point...
which is why i use a lock smith
