painting and protecting arcade edges

So im on the step of painting my Monster arcade (big)  any ideas welcome also i wld like to add some kind of protection (edges) to de front door cus every time i open it a small area gets damage.. Also it is posible to paint t molding? (trying to recycle existing one) and save some cash. Thanks guys 4 all your help.

I would recommend not to paint the t molding.  By the time you got it painted and started to apply it back in the slot I feel the paint would crack due to not retaining position it was painted in.  T molding is fairly inexpensive and you should be able to get the color you want fairly cheap.  I got mine off of ebay for I believe close to ten dollars. 

As for the door how exactly are you damaging the door when you open it?

If the door is made of particle board, you cab "seal" the edges with thinned wood glue or with Bondo. If you use Bondo, you can also fill in the parts that have chipped off.

There is also Wood Hardener for particle board, which will help. You can also do things like cut + glue/screw in a protective overlay like thick plastic trim or diamond kickplating.

Those are particle board, I burned one a few months back because I couldn't get anyone to take the darn thing. Painted over t-molding will always crack over time and look worse than it did in the first place. Yours really doesn't look bad.

I really wouldn't stress over the condition of that door too much, it won't be much of a focus once your panel is in place and the game is up and running.
