  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Not really a restoration, I think I am going to turn it into a custom cab. I guess it looked like this at one time:

And now it's a Tekken 2. I think all they did was remove the side art, change the control panel layout and overlay and the marquee. So it looks OK, but could use some new T-moulding, paint, etc.

I'm probably going to make it look like this (but with a fighting game style setup, with joyticks instead of those 'things') since I'm a huge Nintendo fan:

I will probably just paint it all white for now. It's black right now with no side art. So anyway, I know less than nothing about any type of restorations. I don't have any saws (or know how to use one) or anything like that to do any major woodwork. Never messed with bondo or anything either. Where do I start? Sanding? Bondo? Something like bondo that's easier to work with and you don't need to mix that I saw someone mention? I don't currently have internet at home. Any recommended youtube videos or anything I can download and watch while I attempt this tomorrow?

  • No. It's your top score on Pole Position.

Actual pictures of the cab itself, I personally feel, would help members to get you going in the correct direction.

OK, I will take some pics with my wife's iPhone (sorry that's the best camera we have) tomorrow. I was just looking for some general advice for now.

Why not get a generic cabinet to modify and not a classic?

Well, it would be way too much effort for me to convert it to a DL2. This is pretty much what it looks like now (the pics in the first post):

except mine has a screen and here's my CP:

If you are not restoring this, then you posted this in the wrong forum!

This would be a good cab for a Daphne setup.

My current collection:  Arkanoid^3, Asteroids Deluxe, Centipede, Donkey Kong w/DIIK, Frenzy w/Berzerk multi, Galaga, Galaxian, Gyruss, Mappy,  Missile Command, Multi-Williams, O'Boyles Arcade (Mame), Pac-man,  Sinistar, Star Wars, Tempest, War Gods
