true 15 pin vga cable?
« on: July 28, 2013, 01:52:51 pm »
hey guys,

been a while.  i finally have the motivation to get my swappable add ons going, star wars is done, next up super hang on handle bars.

my quick connect/disconnect was designed around a 15 pin vga cable.  but every cable i've cut into has less than 15 wires.  anyone know where i can get a true 15 pin/wire vga cable?  specifically, i need one male end and multiple female ends (for each of the add ons).

thanks all,

tony

I have 2 10' DB15 extension cables that you are more than welcome to for the cost of shipping. Each cable has a male and female connector and I can confirm each pin has a separate conductor.

good day.

I recall running into the same issue like a year and half ago when wiring up a Jaguar to USB adapter, so I didn't have to cut the controller end off.  If I recall, they tied the R/G/B grounds to the main ground, so you have 4 common wires instead of 4 separate wires.  Probably to save cost, and/or make a slimmer cable.

I'm pretty sure I wound up using the "full size" (non-slim) cables from Monoprice.  I had originally ordered a slim for this project, and it had shared grounds.  So I wound up having to use the bulkier fill sized cable I had sitting around for something else.
