PS2 Games that work well in an arcade cab
« on: July 25, 2013, 02:14:52 pm »
So - PCSX2 emulator can play ps2 games in resolutions up to 1920!! How good is that!?

What PS2 games would you guys reccommend for arcade cabs? So far I've found:

Tekken 5
Soulcalibur 3+4
SSX Tricky
(all the lightgun games if I can ever get my Aimtraks working with Pcsx2!)

Anyone got ps2 up n running on theirs?

Off the top of my head I have

soul calibur 2 and 3
mortal kombat deception
mortal kombat armageddon
bloody roar 3 and 4
Virtua Fighter 3 and 4

my cab is still down, if I turn it on, I will add the rest

Along with those mentioned we have Arctic Thunder in there and while it's certainly at its best on analog it's still very playable with the HAPP Comp and we enjoy it.

I don't know how he manages it so well but my son plays Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex.  :o

great chaps! I'll have a look at these.

I'm struggling and at a dead end too DGP with setting up Aimtrak on PCSX2!! NUmerous postings on the forum have resulted in little help. Even to the basic quesiton "can pcsx2 support usb lightguns?" - seems either no-one knows or those that do can't be arsed to answer!

Wish I could help you there but all I have is the GunCon3 (usb) and have yet to find a way to make it work with a pc. :banghead:

DGP - Have you tried the NUvee plugin? Think this was designed specifically for Gcons - although haven't tested it myself. Search on the PCSX2 forums for it. It was dveeloped a couple of years ago and the author seems to have dropped off the edge of the world - so don't know if working with the newer pcsx2 builds. And seems hard to find a straight answer to this, neither.

Great game.  However when you put it in a cabinet, you'll lose the ability to aim the firing direction of your multiples using the right analog stick.

I have not tried that (NUvee) but I will be looking into it now, thank you!

You would think that since the PS3 controller can be used on the pc that the GunCon3 would work as well since it is a PS3 controller with usb.  :dunno

* Just had a look and I guess Nuvee is only designed for PS1 and PS2 controllers/light-guns.  :hissy:

Star Wars Racers Revenge. It's the only PS2 game I have so far in my cab, but I mapped the joysticks so you fly it like the arcade game.....pull back on left stick to turn left, pull back on the right stick to turn right, etc.

Jason

The key is having the throttle work by pushing either stick forward. Just map both UPs to the "X" button. That way pulling one stick back turns you but keeps you going at full speed.

:o  Explain please!  I cannot control the firing direction of the multiples with the right analog stick in my PS2 Gradius V!  I can get them to follow you and lock them in place with right shoulder button, but they always fire to the right.

EDIT: guess I need to try some of the other weapon configurations!  :banghead:
