Mouse buttons for track ball
« on: July 18, 2013, 01:27:43 pm »
Hey guys,

I have a trackball that I want to use as a mouse, so I need left and right mouse buttons. I have the inputs on both my trackball and spinner, so that is not a problem, but what have you guys done?

I have two buttons next to my spinner I could use, but if I connect them to the mouse buttons, I think I would have problems using those buttons for the spinner games - or would I? Can you assign mouse buttons for actions inside MAME. I know the right button in MALA opens the config.

Thanks,
Justin

Mouse buttons can be configured without any issues in MAME, but the wreak havoc with front-ends and other emulators.
My x-arcade tankstick has them on the sides as pinball buttons and that seems to work out ok.
Nobody bothers them while in the front end or other emulators.

Having them to do stuff like drag and drop files without having to break out a regular mouse is nice.
I guess the location depends on how exactly you plan to use them.

I do have pinball buttons on the side of my CP. I think I'll try that first. Thanks

I have a Atari tempest spinner hooked up to the optiwiz with the mouse harness. There are no problems what so ever in mame assigning them. Works like a champ.  ;D
