Star Wars Trilogy Game Settings In MAME32
« on: July 10, 2013, 09:05:59 pm »
For whatever reason when playing Star Wars Trilogy the frame rates suck and half of the bitmaps have disappeared.  Also the models just seem to collide into one another.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Running:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual
Core Processor 4400
896 MB Of Ram
On Board video....just realized I only have 1GB of ram...Someone needs to go shopping this weekend....

Yup.  Don't use MAME.  Use Supermodel.

+1 -- Supermodel runs fine on my Athlon x64 6000+ system with 4GB and an Evga GeForce GT 430.

Thanks for the input guys.  Found all the information after I posted last night.  I found this  also that shows how to set up the game before actual game play.  Haven't tried it yet.

You should see a box pop up before the game launches that tells you this.
If not, you're running a no-nag version of MAME.

If you know enough to be running a no-nag version of MAME, you should know to never ask why a game isn't working before trying it on the standard build.....or worse yet, report bugs that are already known.

Badmouth,

I assume you mean by "no nag" that there are no nasty little pop ups that annoy you or ask you to push your joystick left then right?  I'm running MAME32 and if you could offer another more stable MAME build I would appreciate it.  I'm using 32 because it seems to work with the "games" I have.

It only asks you to push the joystick left and right for "ok" the first time a game is launched.
It won't ask again after that.  But if a game is unemulated or has issues, you'll still get a pop-up telling you as much.
I have them disabled on my cab, but keep them on my laptop where I do troubleshooting.

Sorry if I come across as harsh, but this is something newer people should know.
I'm not a dev, but I know it annoys the piss out of them to see people asking how to correct issues when they put a big red box on the screen to tell you it has issues and there's nothing that can be done by you presently to fix it (unless you can code to improve the emulator).
If you're using a no-nag version and a game doesn't work, it's good manners to check it on a standard build before posting about it.

plain vanilla naggy builds:

Yeah I got the pop up when I started and it had no sound.  Didn't really matter.  I didn't have my speakers hooked up.  But I was really surprised to see that the entire game itself lagged like molasses.  I usually try to fix my issues as they come but my first post was more of a generalized question if anyone had the same issues.  I found it odd that even after sitting with it for about an hour and calibrating the settings it still functioned in the same way.  But in my haste I posted and didn't look on the intra-net for an answer.  Which, I found, after I posted.

I understand the being harsh also because it seems like some people treat this forum as more of a help center than actually fixing things themselves.  Oh well.
