The intent was two-fold,

1) To inform visitors within the Jukebox/MP3 forum about a jukebox cabinet available...

and...

2) Generate lots and lots of visitors to the MameRoom.com website.

Announcing a cabinet in here is no different than announcing/discussing the software...no shame this time.

35.oo seems pretty high IMO. I like that you have the plans drawn up though. I would love to see more examples of other wall hanging Jukeboxes.

This is the introductory price, but believe me when I say that this manual is detailed down to last screw.  It is by far, the most comprehensive Mameroom.com manual.  There are over 200 pictures and 34 pages of step-by-step instructions.  Following this manual, you can plug in the finished product and you're ready to roll...The PC needs to be set up with the appropriate software, but that's the only thing not included in the manual.

what's the total (estimates of course) cost for the project?

The big items are the Flat Panel LCD monitor and PC to run the jukebox...

Estimate around $200-$300 for the monitor on ebay, and about $200-$300 for a decent PC to run the software.
-Everything else should come to less than $100.

So an estimate (average to high) would be less than $700.  This is, of course, dependant upon what you can get the high priced items for.

A Gateway all-in-one works nicely. I have the Model 3: - 1MHz processor, 40gb HD. I got it on eBay (used) for $350. Killed two birds with one stone.

I like the look of the design!
You might want to add bigger nicer pictures of the unit on your website. It is hard for me to tell if I would really like one of these based on the small low res image on the page.


Also is the marquee backlit?

I know this thread is a bit dated, but I was wondering...instead of using a lcd, what about using an old laptop?  Since it would be fixed in place, I would think the swivel could be modified/disassembled/whatever to get the right angle.  Any thoughts about this approach?

Although a bit expensive now, a Tablet PC would be the ultimate solution for wall mounting, especially with software like Partytime Jukebox that support touch screen functions.  

You could go with an extremely small panel that would mount into a wall, and have the audio go to an external speakers placed around the room.

The Tablet PC approach would be cool but there are a few problems...
1.) Most tablet PCs Don't have a touch screen, they have an embedded stylus driven screen so you would need to use a tethered wacom type pen to drive it.

2.) All of the Tablet PCs that I have used (a lot) have pretty lousy quality sound output. I am not just talking about the little speakers, but when you listen to the output through headphones they aren't too hot. I have an Echo PC Card for my Tablet that works great though.
