need leaf switch for joystick
« on: November 12, 2003, 09:18:40 pm »
So I picked up a Kicker game (for free!) the other day, game coins up & you can hear it play, but no picture.  OK, get monitor chassis rebuilt... Done.  Time to play... WTF!?  Can't move straight up, but every time I go left, I go up too!  Figure I've got some leaf switch alignment issues on the joystick, but open it up & Nooo, they're all aligned right... all three of them.  Some goof lost the switch for "up" , so he just wired the loose wire to the same switch as "left".   You can sort of play, it just takes some getting used to :P

Or, I could get a new leaf switch... the one with the shorter "leaves" on it that goes on the bottom of a joystick, not the regular one from the bottom of a button.  Anybody got one, mabye?

Thanks!

I have lots of them. Is it a Wico type stick, or another brand?

Or, basically, just measure the length of one, and tell me exactly how many pieces of metal there are, and if there is a plastic part involved.

Or take a picture. I don't want to be sending you the wrong one.

My price is one postcard (I put postcards from different internet people on my fridge).

Postcard sounds like a heck of a deal to me.   :D

The whole switch, from tip of leaves to end of base, is 1 7/8 inches.
The leaves are  1 1/8 inches.
There is a plastic part between the leaf the stick pushes and the stick itself.
If you have the little silver angle bracket, I'm missing that, too- if not, no big deal, I'm sure I can make something that will work.

You can e-mail me an address for a postcard:  chuck_l_knutz at yahoo.com
(just fix the @ and lose the spaces - keep the underscores)

Thanks, man!

It looks like you've got one of the Wico clone joysticks. However I'm pretty certain that the leaf switches are interchangeable with the ones fitted to a genuine Wico joystick.

Yeah, that is not a wico joy, but those are the same leaf switches. I figured it would be that type, but I had to be sure, as I know I have several leaf joys that use other kinds of leaf switches.

I do not have one of those metal brackets though. You should be able to find something close enough at the hardware store though.
