  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Hello Community,

I am working on a very important restoration of an original Pacman cocktail arcade for a charity event. We are keeping in tune with having everything on this restoration FULLY original. The parts we are looking for would need to be original and in FANTASTIC condition. The parts needed are listed below:

1. Complete original power supply with transformers and board in excellent condition
2. The 2 white/opaque plexi's at control panels
3. Missing original wooden base in excellent condition (Please see attached pic to refer to missing base, and base needed)
4. The 3 original speaker plates in excellent condition.

Willing to pay top dollar, but it is for charity, so I don't wanna get hosed either if you know what I mean!

My email is sasha@phyzex.com. Please email me detailed pics, item condition, and your best price.

Best regards,
Sasha Sekretov

Pac-Man doesn't have a proper power supply as it creates its own voltages onboard. However it does have a pair of transformers. I can provide those, still attached to the original piece of wood with everything else that was attached to that wood.

However your use of "regards" in your closing and the "detailed pics, item condition and best price" phrase makes me very skeptical.

$50 plus real shipping (you are in Canada, right?). I won't take any checks, money orders, wire transfers or cashier's checks. I will take it as a paypal gift only. Sorry to be so harsh, but all your wording reminds me of internet scams.

paigeoliver,

Awesome, looking forwarding to getting those pics.  By any chance do you have any of the other things I am looking for which may be in good shape as well?

Can you tell everyone now that I am legit??????  lol.  After that first response, I think everyone got scared.

The transformer sets are the only parts you are looking for that I have. I will try to dig one up today and send you a picture.

Since you're looking for original/NOS (New Old Stock = original part, never installed) parts, you might have better luck on the KLOV forums since they are more focused on the restoration of dedicated cabs with original parts.

Sorry for the slight thread derail but I was wondering...

Why would you say, "willing to pay top dollar" and then immediately caveat that with "I don't want to get hosed"?

Merriam Webster defines top dollar as the highest amount being paid for a commodity or service.  Perhaps, as you're peppering the forums searching for parts, you should say, "willing to pay a fair price" or "competitive rate" since you clearly aren't wanting to pay top dollar.  Nothing wrong with that.  I rarely pay top dollar for anything.  Maybe really good food on occasion.

Holy crap man, why dont you rip me a new A hole for not phrasing it correctly.  I agree with you, I should have said "a fair price" as you stated, but sometimes we all make dumbass mistakes, and I too would pay top dollar for a damn good steak, lol.

So, other than your beautiful make me feel like an idiot response to my badly phrased post, do you have any of the parts in great condition I am looking for?

No offense taken, and visa vera, I will learn from all your great comments for next time.

Question- why do they have to be NOS parts and not repros? Does the auction description hinge on everything being 100% original?

Because it does make you sound like a nigerian scammer.  I don't think you are and I like to see finished projects and happy builders.  Anything to help you get what you're after.  ;D

Have you tried KLOV like others have suggested?  If not I too highly recommend, good pool of parts floating around over there fyi.

Thanks guys for all the help.  I have posted on KLOV almost a week now, getting some good direction, but it seems like these parts are harder to come by these days.

To answer the question above, we advertised the arcade on the charity raffle tickets as an ALL Original Pacman cocktail from the 80's.  We had requests before we started to do it that way, and didnt realize how tough it would be to get these parts, lol.

Oh well, we have to keep our word now.

Well, good luck. You're probably not going to be able to go 100% authentic without finding parts from a gutted machine.

I wouldn't sweat the plastics and base as not being authentic. If you have authentic boards, joys, buttons, and glass, that should be good enough.  :dunno

yotsuya,

I think your right.  Seems like the plastics and base will have to be repro.  Now if I could only find that transformer board and harness in sweet condition.....
